DESCRIPTION:
This is the day when those of the Christian faith celebrate Corpus Christi, or "Feast of the Body of Christ". It occurs each year on the Thursday following Trinity Sunday.
It is a holy day solemnly commemorating the receiving of the Holy Eucharist (communion). The feast was first practiced in 1306 in Cologne and was introduced in England from Belgium between 1320 and 1325.
The Feast is also known in Orthodox churches of the Syrians, Armenians, Copts, Melchites, and the Ruthenians of Galicia, Calabria, and Sicily.
